How often should clothes be washed, the best ‘wash schedule’ tells you
Some people like to be clean and take off their clothes to wash immediately if they have stains;
In fact, different clothes have their own optimal cleaning cycles, and washing them too often or not in time will bring health risks.
The best wash cycle for different clothes
after each wear
T-shirts and tracksuits: Sweat on clothes can breed bacteria, so it’s best to wash them after each wear.
Socks: The water temperature should not exceed 40℃, otherwise the socks will shrink and harden.
Silk clothing: poor light resistance, so do not expose to the sun, it is best to dry in a cool and ventilated place.
change every day
It is recommended to replace the bra every day, not wear it for two consecutive days, the shoulder straps need a rebound time of about 24 hours, and if you wear it continuously, the life of the bra will be shortened.
Prepare a few more bras to wear, because close-fitting clothes are easily contaminated with dander and sweat, which can become a breeding ground for bacteria.
When cleaning, it is recommended to use soap and cold water to wash by hand, do not twist or rub hard to prevent deformation and lay flat to dry.
After wearing 3~4 times
If the close-fitting pajamas are not washed for a long time, microorganisms and shed cells from the skin will accumulate on the pajamas, bringing health risks.
It is best to wash by hand in cold water and dry in a cool place, otherwise, the sun will deform and yellow the pajamas and shorten the service life.
After wearing 4~5 times
Overwashing may cause the jeans to fade or fray.
Wash jeans inside out in cold water, then hang to dry in the shade.
After wearing 6~7 times
Remember the five-character formula of “warm, knead, squeeze, suck, and spread” when washing sweaters, that is, wash with warm water at 29°C, quickly and gently knead for 2 to 5 minutes, rinse and squeeze out the water, blot dry with a towel, and spread out. Let dry.
1-2 times a quarter
Most winter clothes can be washed once at the end of the winter. The northern winter is long and can be washed once in the middle of the season. Washing too often will reduce the thermal performance.
Down jacket: When cleaning, it should be soaked in cold water for 20 minutes, then add neutral detergent, and then gently brush with a soft brush.
Cashmere Coat: Dry cleaning recommended.
Leather clothing: If there is no obvious dirt, take a cloth with soda water and wipe gently and air dry. Genuine leather is prone to mold, and if you find mold or stains on the leather that cannot be removed, it is best to send it for dry cleaning.
Reminder: Hats, gloves, scarves and other winter clothes have more opportunities to come into contact with dirt, so they should be washed more frequently, usually 3 to 5 times a quarter.
4 Mistakes Make Your Clothes Dirty
The following wrong laundry methods, see how many you have made?
1 Wash all clothes at the same temperature
The temperature of the water is very important to washing your clothes clean. Generally speaking, warm water (30°C ~ 60°C) is conducive to fully dissolving the washing powder, increasing the activity of activated molecules, promoting the saponification of greasy dirt in water, and improving the washing effect.
After the clothing is exposed to water, the fibers will swell, wet, and stretch. Due to the different heat resistance of the fibers that make up the clothing, the temperature that the clothing can withstand is also different:
The optimum water temperature for cotton fabrics is 40°C to 50°C;
The water temperature of about 35°C for wool clothes is the most suitable;
When washing linen clothes, the water temperature should be controlled at 30°C or below.
2 Soak overnight and then wash
Many people soak their clothes for a few hours before washing, or even soak them overnight, thinking that the longer they soak, the cleaner they will be, but the opposite is true.
If the soaking time is too long, the chemicals in the laundry detergent and the stains in the clothes are more likely to break down and give off a bad smell.
Sewage cannot run off, and over time, it will enter the fibers of clothes, causing the clothes to fade and age.
It is advisable to soak dirty clothes for 15 minutes. Even heavy clothes should not be soaked for more than 30 minutes.
3 The more detergent the better
Too much laundry detergent is difficult to rinse clean, water-consuming, and time-consuming. Clothes are easy to harden after washing, and people with sensitive skin can easily cause allergies when wearing them.
When washing clothes, it is recommended to add half the amount according to the instructions of the laundry detergent first, and then gradually increase if the foam is less.
4 Do not dry immediately after washing
Many office workers like to throw their clothes in the washing machine in the morning and leave and wait for the clothes to come back at night to dry. Wet clothes are easy to breed bacteria in the washing machine for a long time, so they should be taken out and aired within 30 minutes after washing.
Once the laundry has been in the washing machine for more than an hour, it should be rewashed.
